About our collars: At River's End, we want your dog to be both stylish, and safe. We look for unique fabrics and trims from all corners of the world, and also use premium materials to ensure safety. Throughout the year, we donate our collars to raise funds for adoption groups in need. We donated $1,500.00 in collars in 2006 to help greyhound adoption! Each order is made specifically for you and your dog! You can specify the type and color of lining, trim or fabric, and type of hardware. Please understand that since each collar is hand-made just for your dog, it may take time to complete your collars. Most orders ship within two weeks, but if I have received many orders, or it is during peak show season when I may be away vending (April-June) please be aware that it could take longer. I will not sacrifice the quality of my collars to manufacture them quickly. Each collar is made individually by me. I do not outsource. This way I can assure you the best quality! Construction: Our collars are constructed around a core of nylon/polypropylene blend webbing which provides great strength and durability. All of our hardware is either solid-cast, or welded, so that you do not have to worry about it breaking or pulling apart. Each stress-bearing seam is sewn with 69# bonded nylon upholstery thread, which is both amazingly strong, and also rot-resistant, so you don't have to worry about your collar if it happens to get wet. (please note, as with all safety equipment, you should check your collars periodically to make sure that the seams and webbing are still in good shape, as they can become damaged over time and with heavy use/abuse) Fabrics: Our fabrics and trims range from cotton prints to silks imported from afar. Care varies with the fabric/trim. All collars are fully lined in either backed satin or ultra-suede. We have many colors available, and you may pick both color and lining material. Cotton blends: These are some of the most durable, and can be washed either by hand, or in the machine on the gentle cycle. They are also durable if your dog is a scratcher, and will not pull and snag as some delicate fabrics may. These are what I use for Sebau, the Resident Product Tester #1, who has a penchant for running through brambles, rolling in mud, scratching, yanking, and otherwise trying her best to destroy her attire. Silk blends/brocades: These are some of my most delicate fabrics. They are unsurpassed in luxury and feel, but they do require special cleaning. They should be washed by hand in a gentle detergent such as Woolite, and blotted dry between two towels, and then allowed to air dry. These fabrics can also be prone to snagging, as they are very soft and supple, so if your dog is a digger/scratcher, they are not recommended for everyday wear. Trims: The durability of trims varies greatly from trim to trim. I try to note either the extremely delicate trims or the extremely durable trims in the catalog. They should be hand washed and allowed to air dry. Many are perfectly suitable for daily wear. |
